What your support can do:
Forge Garden
The Forge Garden is a 1/2-acre, educational garden that supports the interests of the University and the community. Donations support educational programs and are used to purchase supplies for workshops, academic classes, and site improvements. Support the 8-10 paid summer interns that take a deep dive into their local food systems and learn about equity and food justice ranging from farm worker rights to food access for all.
Campus Sustainability Changemaker
At the Center for Sustainability, our students are on-the-ground leaders cultivating a stronger culture of sustainability amongst Broncos by leading campus programs and initiatives. Coordinators cover many areas, including Housing and Dining Services, Data and Analytics, Storytelling Campaigns, Circular Economy, Applied Learning, Facilities and Operations, Communication and Design, Career Empowerment, Strategic Plan Support, Collaborative Events, and Curricular Transformation. Coordinators utilize project management tools such as work plans, project outlines, and meeting portfolios and gain professional development training at weekly meetings with our staff members.
Center for Sustainability Research Fellowships provide paid opportunities for students interested in future graduate-level sustainability work to complete a year-long research project in sustainability, food systems, or clean energy.
Climate Action
SCU is committed to reducing campus greenhouse gas emissions. Help us boost SCU’s climate mitigation and adaptation efforts: increase renewable energy generation and expand efforts for carbon neutrality and resiliency planning. Climate Action at SCU advances the main energy strategies of our 2030 Leading Through Laudato Si’ sustainability strategic action goal: accelerating the reduction of carbon pollution by driving down energy use through conservation and efficiency, decarbonizing our purchased energy and investments, and improving sustainable transportation options for our students and employees.
Created in the fall of 2024, Bucky's Closet is SCUs student-run on-campus thrift store. It serves students, staff, and faculty by offering second-hand clothing, shoes, accessories, school supplies, and more. Through on-site donations and reuse of resources on campus, Bucky’s Closet is improving student access and affordability, building a more close-knit community, diverting unnecessary waste from landfills, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The best part: this incredible resource is conveniently located on campus and completely FREE!
