Questions Emerge Over Chandler Mayor's Eligibility to Hold Office

John Pelissero, director, government ethics, quoted by Arizona Central.

"It sounds like they're (the council) trying to create a pathway after the fact that amends the charter in order to allow for compliance," Pelissero said in reference to May 19's executive session. "It's a very surprising set of circumstances."

"The question I would ask is, which is going to best serve the public interest," Pelissero said, "the language and the intent of the charter or the desire on the part of candidates or public officials to continue running?"
