This series, in 2022, centered the question of equity – and how artificial intelligence and the algorithms around us are making our society more or less fair and prosperous and how we can harness AI for the greatest positive social impact.

On November 1, 2024 the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics and Next10 cohosted a daylong conference on AI and sustainability.
The authors of the book, American Gun: The True Story of the AR-15, Cameron McWhirter and Zusha Elinson chronicle the evolution of the popular AR-15. Subbu Vincent, director of journalism and media ethics at the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics hosted a conversation with McWhirter and Elinson about the AR-15 story and American culture.
This daylong conference, cosponsored by the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics and Next 10, brought together academics from a variety of disciplines, industry and government representatives, as well as students and the broader public, to explore the intersection of AI and sustainability.
